Description

Chassis No. WP0CB2960RS465325

Following the tremendous success of Porsche's first revival of the iconic Speedster five years prior, Porsche devoted significant resources to send the 964 series out on a high note by producing the highly anticipated, second generation 911 Speedster. By the end of its 1994 production run, fewer than one thousand Speedsters had been produced, with only 469 examples built as exports for the North American market. The revised Speedster was delivered primarily with a narrow body sporting an updated, painted front fascia which transitioned to the lowered, raked windshield and popular dual hump rear tonneau cover, complemented with updated rear styling topped off by a new electric rear spoiler.

This driver focused model was offered with many performance upgrades over its predecessor thanks to an updated chassis which Porsche claimed was over 85 percent new. Power came courtesy of a glorious, 3.6 L air-cooled flat-six which bestowed drivers with a lovely, naturally aspirated engine note, best enjoyed when cruising with the top down. Three pedal driving skills are required as this flat-six is connected to a G50 five-speed manual transmission. Many 964 Speedsters were optioned with Porsche's "Tiptronic" automatic transmission, not so with this well ordered example. Specially tuned suspension components were equipped along with vented disc brakes that allowed drivers to have complete control over this lightened open air drivers car.

A particularly attractive example, this Speedster is finished in a Paint-to-Sample 'Ferrari Gelb' exterior that is complimented by a black leather interior. Well optioned, it features sports seats, air conditioning, and an Alpine head unit, providing creature comforts in this pared-down, lightweight model. At the time of cataloging, this Speedster shows fewer than 22,000 miles, most of which we suspect were enjoyed with the top down just as Porsche planned.
