The Porsche 911

When Porsche began to assess ways of improving its successful 356 model in the mid-1950s, it soon became clear that a mere evolutionary development would in no way suffice. Such were the potential changes to the 356 that an entirely new model would be developed. The new Porsche would offer occupants more space, along with a stowage area that would allow sufficient room for a set of golf clubs. The new model’s performance level was aimed at that of the 356 Carrera 2, while matching the refinement of the ‘regular’ 356. The basic layout of the platform was to be retained, as well as Porsche’s well-known silhouette. Few sports cars have proved as versatile as Porsche’s perennial 911, a model that, for the last 50-plus years, has proved equally capable as a Grand Tourer, circuit racer, or rally car.

« A Porsche will always look like a Porsche. My grandfather took these shapes from nature, so the head lamps of the 911 maybe look a little like the eyes of a frog, but it comes from nature, and the best shapes are from nature, so why change? »

– Ferdinand Alexander Porsche –

This Motorcar

The Porsche 911 we are offering here is chassis 302621. Supplied new to the US market, the car was sold via official dealer Porsche Cars Pacific of Burlingame in California to its first owner Alva A. Tracy of San Jose on October 1965. Finished in special livery colour Golf Blue -which it still retains today- with black leatherette to the interior, 302621 has remained in California most of its life. In 2013 the car was acquired by its current owner and at which time it was original but in the need of a restoration.
At a later stage it was decided to take 302621 down to bare metal and begin a restoration to the highest level. The body work and paint was performed by a well-know Italian marque-specialist. The car was then brought to Switzerland for an extensive mechanical overhaul and detailed finishing by a highly respected Porsche specialists. The invoices for the mechanical work alone – all of which are in the dossier – amount to more than 125.000 CHF.

Finished today to its exact original specifications and benefiting from a world-class restoration by renowned marque specialists, the condition of the car can hardly be described other than with superlatives!
302621 is truly one of the best restored early 911 examples in existence and would be an ideal entrant to concours events worldwide.

Swiss registered.
