Description

"The first Porsche 911 was introduced in 1963 as the replacement for the much loved Porsche 356. It has a distinctive design; rear-engined and with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, it has undergone continual development and in 1967, the Targa version was introduced which had a stainless steel-clad roll bar. The name came from the Targa Florio road race in Sicily, in which Porsche had notable success. The road-going Targa was equipped with a removable roof panel and a removable plastic rear window with a fixed glass version offered alongside from 1968, offering the best of open top motoring with the benefit of a weather proof environment for when you arrive in the UK. In 1984 was the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine. Although it remained an air-cooled 'flat-six', the 3.2 was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974; the bold statistics being a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.
First registered on 3rd September 1989, this desirable example is presented in white with black leather interior. The car comes with its original service book with 16 stamps, the last one recorded on 7th January 2019 by the specialist Porsche garage, Paragon. Presented with the car is a history file containing numerous invoices showing work carried on the car over the years, some dating back to the early 1990s, accompanying this are virtually all the old MoT test certificates and the cars current MoT test certificate which expires January 2020. The present owner had the car fully serviced by Paragon in January this year, costing a total of £10,974, the invoice for this can also be found within the history file. This is still one of the most sought after models of the iconic German sports car and is as exciting to drive today as it was in 1987."
