The Porsche 911 is one of the longest-lived sports cars in automotive history, evolving from the purity of the first-generation, air-cooled variants, which served as a replacement for the 356, through to the water-cooled turbocharged models of the modern era. While halo models have punctuated all generations of Porsche 911—from the Carrera 2.7 RS to the GT2 RS—the earliest short-wheelbase examples built between 1964 and 1969 offer an evergreen appeal to collectors for their simple construction, comparatively low build numbers, and engaging driving experience.

Chassis 304371 is one of just 1,709 short-wheelbase 911 Coupés built in 1966. It rolled off the Zuffenhausen production line on 26 April that year, before being delivered to its new owner via Sonauto or Paris—France’s first and sole Porsche importer. According to an accompanying copy of its Kardex, the car was first finished in the desirable and popular combination of Polorot over a Schwarz leatherette interior and fitted with a Webasto heater.

While the Kardex on file also confirms that the car received some warranty work during its early years in France, the Porsche’s earlier history is yet to be uncovered. However, it is known to have eventually travelled to Italy, where it was purchased from Porsche 356 specialist, Vintage Toys, on 10 December 2013, and became an important part of The Carrera Collection.

Today, this attractive and well specified short-wheelbase Porsche 911 is finished in its factory-correct colour combination of Polorot over Schwarz. It retains its matching-numbers 1,991-cc flat-six engine according to factory records.

This Porsche 911 Coupé would be the perfect companion for spirited Sunday morning drives, and could equally serve as a great addition to any collection of landmark sports cars.

Please note the Swiss Carte Grise is not present and the car is offered with a previous US title and 13.20A form.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Schweizer Carte Grise nicht vorhanden ist und das Auto mit einem vorherigen US-Titel und 13.20A Formular angeboten wird.
