French title - Very rare RS Clubsport version - Beautifully preserved car - The most radical naturally-aspirated road-going 993 The RS Clubsport was one of the ultimate versions of the 993 range, being the most sporty and the rarest. The example on offer also has the merit of being in immaculate condition, having been regularly maintained from new. The odometer records 45,083 km, so the car has been driven sparingly. It comes with several options, such as diamond alloy wheels and fabric seats. It is fitted with the original alarm, a battery cut-out and special Cargraphic exhaust that gives the car a particularly attractive sound. The RS versions, for RennSport, were designed for motorsport enthusiasts who might want to use their car on the circuit, and their specification matched such a purpose. The body was lightened, by the use of aluminium for certain parts such as the bonnet. The interior was also stripped of surplus features, in a particularly uncompromising way on the Clubsport. Thus the passenger compartment retained only what was strictly necessary : it was protected with a roll-cage, and was equipped with two bucket seats fitted with harnesses and a sports steering wheel. All trim disappeared, along with the comfortable extras of air-conditioning and electric windows, and the rear seats. These modifications gave the car a significant weight advantage over the standard Carrera S. Externally, the impressive rear spoiler is identical to that used on the Cup versions. Additionally, the car boasted an exceptional engine. The 3.8-litre flat-six air-cooled engine produced 300 bhp, with a high torque of 355 Nm at 5,400 rpm, guaranteeing powerful acceleration. With its six-speed gearbox the car was capable of 275 km/h and could travel from 0 to 100 km/h in 5"2. An impressive feat ! The example on offer is in excellent general condition, as stated in the accompanying inspection report dated May 2013, since when it has covered just 200 km. The chassis and suspension have been well preserved, and the tyres are almost new. Rare in this road-going Clubsport version, this car is ready to take to the track and show off the driving qualities of an exceptional and reliable machine, or more probably to become the star of a collection of air-cooled 911s.
