As can be seen in the registration document as well as the AMAG internal serial number, this Porsche 356 is a Swiss delivered example and was first registered in 1962. In 1974/75 the coupe was taken over by its second owner, being in rather average condition, and to use it as a future winter transport, it was repainted from red to the actual yellow with black bonnets front and rear. In January 1977 he had the Porsche de-registered and stored in a barn with the intention of having it restored at a later stage. Nothing came of these plans though and the car remained in its dusty shed for the next 46 years. After recovery in the summer of 2023, it was evident that the engine was not only most probably the original unit, but it was even free to turn, and the car was virtually complete. The coachwork shows some areas where corrosion really has taken its toll and one of the brakes is locked solid. Of course, this barn find will require a thorough restoration and at this stage is not drivable but certainly represents an exciting and tantalising project. The original registration document is available, and a renewed registration should therefore go quite smoothly.
