Description

1962 PORSCHE 356B 1600 TWIN GRILLE ROADSTER:
--Light Ivory with Red leather with Pepita cloth seat inserts, Tan German square weave carpeting and Black cloth top, 1600cc flat four-cylinder engine, 4-Speed manual gearbox, Restored by well-known Porsche specialist, Concours condition, Rare 1 of 248 Twin Grille Roadsters.

The Autumn of 1959 welcomed Porsche’s fully redesigned 356B; known internally as the T5, as in ‘Technical Programme V.’ The 356 Roadster was introduced for the 1960 model year as a replacement of the one-year-only 1959 Convertible D, the Speedster’s more civilized successor. The new T5 Roadster brought several changes in appearance. The 356B was then further developed into the T6 design for 1962 now featuring rear twin grilles replacing the former center single grille. Other revised features included a flatter hood and the relocation of the gas filler to the top of the right front fender.

The Twin Grille roadster is one of the most highly sought after roadsters of the 356 lineage. As Porsche readied production for the 356C, the Twin Grilles were produced by D’Ieteren with only 248 ever manufactured. This immaculate 356 roadster went through a no expense spared concours winning restoration by marque specialist, Bruce Baker, several years ago. Since, 356 has always been owned by Porsche collectors and superbly cared for. While in ownership of well-known Porschephile Don Ahern, the interior was changed to its current Red with Pepita cloth seat inserts with work done by Tony Autobahn Interiors, California. It was then purchased by Phil Bagley of Klub Sport Racing in Florida on behalf of one of his clients. In its most recent ownership, Klub Sport rebuilt the engine to freshen. An electric fuel pump auxiliary switch was also fitted for ease of starting.

This Twin Grille roadster is ready for immediate use or concours showing. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a rare, restored 356B Twin Grille Roadster for the 356 enthusiast and collector alike. A Twin Grille Roadster is one of the best investment grade Porsches. A recent road test attests to the car performing flawlessly in every way.
