Description

Right-hand drive
Outstanding restoration from the 90s
Beautiful condition
Very rare!

This right-hand drive, outstanding example is offered for sale from a private collection, finished in silver over red leather interior in beautifully restored condition.

Supplied new in July 1959 to South Africa, the car remained in sunny South Africa until being acquired by a gentleman from Germany in 1986 who we believe in the late 1990s started a complete bare-metal restoration on chassis 107079, the level of restoration is clear and is to an extremely high quality which is still visible today, some 20 years later, a credit to the previous owner and restorer. The next owner was an aircraft engineer from Hamburg who like our client had spent many months inspecting 356s and being disappointed by the level of restoration. During his ownership between 2004 and 2020 he covered just 4,000 miles and maintained the car extremely well with great detail and care. In 2009 the non-matching engine was replaced with another, almost unused, period correct, industrial engine which had been completely rebuilt to S-spec with a stainless Ahnendorp Sport exhaust too. A coupe of clever upgrades were made to the car which include, a 1959 Blaupunkt Koeln signal seeker radio and Derrington steering wheel by Mota Lita and steel bucket seats. The original seats are also with the car.

Beautifully presented in outstanding condition, retaining original panels throughout, bar the passenger side door, this example has a carefully documented history file showing the love, care and expenditure it has seen throughout the years, the original wheels are also included in the sale. Being right-hand this 356A T2 is extremely rare and at our price in our view is spectacular value at £149,500.
