Description

"The Peugeot 205 was produced between 1983 and 1998 and was declared as car of the decade by Car Magazine in 1990. The 205 was often credited as the car that turned Peugeots fortunes around. Volkswagen may have started the GTi craze in 1976, but many see the 205 as king of the breed. Initially only available with a 1.6 litre engine, in 1986 the 205 received the 130bhp 1905cc engine, instantly giving more rapid acceleration and a higher top speed.Peugeot certainly won the fight in 1986 when the cabriolet version of the GTi was introduced. In designing the car, Pininfarina cleverly retained the 205’s impish looks while at the same time integrating some fresh design thoughts into the model. The CTi had a lot to live up to since its hard-top brother, the GTi, was such an outstanding car. It is on winding roads, however, that the Peugeot comes into its own. The CTi is really very impressive, the superb handling in every way matched by the steering, brakes and chassis response. The Peugeot 205 1.9 CTi offered here is a 1988 'F plate' finished in red with charcoal half leather interior. Having covered a mere 39,822 miles, this very original example has undergone a full machine polish and mechanical inspection, carried out by Hot Rod Technologies in Southall. Boasting air conditioning, electric front windows and 15” alloy wheels, which have been recently refurbished, this example has clearly led a pampered existence. With the hatchback versions regularly fetching in excess of £30,000, this much rarer CTi represents exceptional value for money and will certainly appreciate further over time."
