Over the years, Morgan Motor Company has become synonymous with continuity and consistency, as well as attachment to its traditions. Even in 2020, it continues to manufacture classic, timeless British roadsters, built as they were more than 60 years ago, using handcrafted techniques and materials such as wood and aluminium.
Founded in 1909 by railway engineer H F S Morgan, Morgan is one of the oldest manufacturers existing today. Initially, the company distinguished itself for the production of three-wheeled cars powered by motorcycle-derived engines that remained exclusive until 1936, when Morgan's first four-wheeled 4/4 was introduced. Initially equipped with the 1.21cc Coventry Climax 4-cylinder engine, the 4/4 is still in production today, with only minimal modifications compared to the original design. In the post-war period, this model continued to be produced using old-fashioned techniques, while still remaining highly appreciated by its loyal customers.
This splendid 4/4 1600 of 1969, equipped with Ford Kent Crossflow engine, belongs to the longest series of the model, produced from 1968 to 1993. Finished in Old English White, ASI certified and complete in every detail, it has been used regularly and with great care for meetings and short trips on the Ligurian coast by the current owner. Most likely restored in the 90s, it is in excellent condition and is ready to be used.
