Description
This is probably one of the most stylish four-seats coupés ever made. Designed by Paul Bracq, head of design for Mercedes-Benz during the sixties and early seventies, the pillarless Coupé is now a true design icon. It is a very useable car, which offers a comfortable ride in silence and grace.
This matching nrs example is a later version with the squared off and lowered Mercedes grille, and fitted with the reliable 2,8 litre straight six mated to an incredibly smooth automatic gearbox. This German specification W111 has almost all factory options, including sunroof, power steering and power windows. It was comprehensively restored between 2004 and 2005 by an official German Mercedes-Benz dealership, and finished in its original and beautiful colour Silver metallic with a warm red interior. Driving this stylish Mercedes is a real pleasure, and it is hard to believe that it is over 45 years old now. It was also one of the first cars with a built-in passenger safety cell, and fitted with big disc brakes and three-point seatbelts. All very unusual for a car from this era, and a big plus if safety is one of your main requirements on a classic car. Being one of the last hand-built Mercedes cars (they built only 13 cars a week), it is now a true collectors car. Only 3797 examples of the 280 SE Coupé were constructed between 1969 and 1971.
This great Mercedes is ready for a testdrive at our premises, and will certainly please to anybody who is looking for a motorcar which can actually be used. And this without worries about the value as it can only go up in the coming years....
