Registered in Paris in 1978, this car remained in the capital when it changed hands in 1982, and was acquired by the current owner in 2005. Presented in an elegant combination of colours, metallic bronze with aubergine roof, it comes with automatic gearbox, sunroof, electric windows, climate control (disconnected), Blaupunkt radio and lightweight steel wheels. The odometer is set at 52 450 km.
The car has been looked after regularly in the Étoile-Collection workshop, and in addition to routine maintenance, has had the following work carried out : the brake master cylinder, radiator and fuel pump were replaced in 2006; the wiring system was renewed the same year, and the front axle refurbished in 2007. Ten years later, in 2017, the gearbox was repaired and in September, four new tyres were fitted. In 2008 the underbody and hollow bodies were treated with Dimitrol.
Today, it is presented in nice condition and the original leather interior displays a lovely patina. It runs well and we have only noted a slight leak from one of the exhaust manifolds. In an elegant colour scheme with highly desirable options, continuous history and having been regularly maintained, this is an unusual example of the Mercedes coupé with a performance and power that made it stand out. Based on a subtle mix of sportiness, comfort and luxury, it led the way for a whole generation of models that helped to consolidate the marque's reputation.
