"The 560 SL convertible was the latest in Mercedes-Benz's long and much loved line of luxury sports cars. Launched in 1983 it could trace its lineage back to the 230 SL of 1963. The 560 SL was powered by a 5.5 litre, overhead camshaft V8 engine producing 227bhp, an output good enough for a top speed of 220kmh with 100kmh reachable in around eight seconds. There were improvements to the running gear in the form of anti-dive, anti-squat rear suspension, a limited slip differential and revised steering geometry. The 560 SL has a high level of standard equipment, including leather upholstery, anti-lock braking, an anti-theft alarm system, stereo radio/cassette, leather trimmed steering wheel, gear lever and an improved climate control system.
This flagship Mercedes-Benz R107 is presented in red with matching hardtop and contrasting magnolia leather trim and hood. This example originally delivered to the USA was imported to the UK in 2007 and is described by our vendor as in excellent condition having benefitted from dry storage and being maintained regardless of cost in its current tenure. Offered with an MoT until July 2023 the Mercedes comes with a sizeable history file and is perhaps the best example we have seen. Perfect for that trip to the continent or holiday home or perhaps just taking advantage of that 5.5 litre Mercedes V8. An opportunity not to be missed.
