Description

This classic car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button. .This beautiful 380SL from 1980 is a rock-hard survivor from California. Bought from the owner who had it since 2004, with only 94,000 miles on the counter. This can be seen from everything on this beautiful car! The interior and engine still look very good for a 40-year-old car.
We extensively serviced the engine once it was imported, everything works well, the car is ready to drive.

The 380SL was introduced in 1980 as a replacement for the 350 and 450 models. This 380 SL has the new alloy 3.8L engine with 218 hp and 305 Nm. It has a top speed of 215 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds.

We fitted a brand new soft-top, it’s very nice and taut. The woodwork and interior were restored, we chose to keep the beautiful and original blue leather. There are some small scratches and cracks in the leather of the seats and dashboard which give the car a very nice, pure look.

We fully restored and resprayed the hardtop. The original third brake light was removed from the boot, the boot was then resprayed. This 3rd brake light doesn’t give the car a great look.

In short, we worked on this car with a lot of love, the new owner can enjoy it straight away. The only drawback is the quality of the paint. The paint is good but it is not the original paint, it was resprayed in the US, probably because of too much sun. I wouldn’t give it a 10, it’s more of a 7. There’s no reason not to respray it, although it’s not a 10, it still makes a good impression as a 7.

Conclusion: this car is rising steadily in value, with a new hardtop and soft-top, the engine had a major service, a sleek boot lid without an ugly third brake light as well as no rust at all.

It can be viewed in Kloosterzande, the Netherlands.

All import duties and taxes were already paid.

For an additional €500 we can register the car in the Netherlands, a Dutch export registration can then be issued for any buyers within the EU.
