Sometimes a day is simply perfect. Such as January 6, 1969, when Mr. Stadtmann was allowed to pick up his extremely tasteful Mercedes-Benz 280SL "Pagoda" with automatic transmission from the Mercedes-Benz dealer in Zurich.

The car has only driven 128,090 kilometers and, in line with Swiss traditions, it has been very well maintained. Because the car has been so well maintained and has always been kept in a heated garage, the car has never needed a full restoration. The body therefore has only very light signs of wear that match the age and mileage of the car. However, the sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The body has already been professionally fully repainted and still looks very good. The convertible top has recently been renewed and is in good condition. The hood is easy to operate and fits nicely anywhere. The car has the original steel wheels surrounded by good tires in the correct sizes and the beautiful standard hubcaps with the hearts sprayed in the color of the car.

The interior is completely original. Thanks to the fact that the car has been in a heated garage for most of its age. The carpets are in fact still completely original and the leather is still the first leather. The interior is neatly maintained and beautifully cared for. The leather is still wonderfully supple and has developed a beautiful patina over the years. The wood on the dashboard also looks fine. The typical Pagoda items such as the light in the glove compartment are also present and function as they should. The beautifully designed counters also function as they should and look neat.

The technology has always been thoroughly maintained. There is also a button that helps with a cold start. The Pagode is powered by a 2.8 liter inline six engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The engine delivers 170 hp and is more than enough powerful to allow the 280SL to easily drive along with modern traffic. The brakes and chassis are also very well suited to their task. The car has good suspension and damping and the brakes can be dosed well.

The Pagoda was a huge hit for Mercedes-Benz and still has a huge fan base. Completely justified because it is a beautiful car to see and a car that drives wonderfully. This 280SL comes with a maintenance booklet and Mercedes-Benz assistance guide. In short, a beautiful European delivered Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda in a very attractive Green over Tan colour scheme.
