Inspection report:

The overall condition of this vehicle is satisfactory: This vehicle has a lovely overall patina, and the buyer will have the option of keeping it as is or having cosmetic work done to suit their own taste.

Body and paintwork:

Overall, the bodywork looks good, the alignments are good. The dark green DB268 paintwork has some age-related imperfections, but is nonetheless presentable.

Interior:

The upholstery seems - as the seller indicates - to be the original one, it has a patina as well as a smell that is nowadays difficult to obtain. Its colour (No. 140) perfectly complements the exterior colour, resulting in a rare and desirable combination.

Undercarriage and chassis:

The undercarriage is in very good condition, showing proper use and storage.

Mechanics:

The engine works well, the gearbox, the axle, the suspensions, the steering and the brakes do not appear to show any defects. The only thing noted is that the brake booster probably has a leak, it will potentially need to be refurbished or replaced.

Overall condition:

This vehicle is on the whole in an interesting condition. Its authenticity and patina give it a unique look that is increasingly sought after on the market. This is a rare opportunity for an enthusiast looking for a 280 SL with the desirable ZF gearbox, and a desirable overall authenticity.

----------------------------------

A very lovely Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda (W113) from 1969 equipped with a rare and desirable 5-speed ZF gearbox. Only in the catalogue between 1966 and 1969, about 500 copies of the 280 SL would be equipped with it.

Found in Corsica, on the Isle of Beauty, sleeping in a barn where it resided its entire life until 2016. Only 3 owners. This sunny region has made it possible to truly preserve the vehicle.

An incredible and rare colour combination: Dark green DB268 exterior and Cognac MB Tex interior. A true time capsule with original upholstery showing a superb patina with some signs of wear and repair. The exterior paintwork was probably redone in 1986, based on the date of the boot seal, and has an interesting patina and some voluntarily allowed imperfections. Ordered especially for this sunny region in California version with hardtop and with standard 4-seater registration. The hardtop itself can be restored or left as is.

The chassis is very sound, and, having been on a car lift, shows no signs of damage or major repairs. The rocker panels and the driver's side wheel arch have been redone to perfect the undercarriage for the sale.

The original engine is available and needs to be restored. It will be delivered with the vehicle and guarantees the Matching Number end. It is currently equipped with a comparable 280 SE engine which has been overhauled and is in excellent working condition. The ZF gearbox is indeed the original one. A number of mechanical services were done for the sale, including: Engine, axle and gearbox drained; Bosch injection pump and injectors refurbished, new Köni shock absorbers, new Michelin MXV tyres, lubrication service, cooling and brake system serviced...

The original Mercedes pouch with user manual and dealership list is included along with the spare keys.

This Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda in ZF version will assuredly result in love at first sight and is any collectors' holy grail.
