It's said that just over 5,000 examples of the 250 SL were originally produced, with only about 1,750 imported to the US. The 250 retained the stiffer suspension and sportier feel of the early SLs, but provided improved agility, engine and 4-wheel disc brakes.
113043-10-000589 was sold new to Lawrence Sundae of San Mateo, California on July 27, 1967 - through Fritz Lambeck European Motors, LTD (Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco). In addition to numerous original manuals, the vehicle's vin-matched original service booklet shows this particular 250SL was continuously serviced in California from new thru 1982. Eventually, the car made its way to sunny Florida before it was discovered in 2017 as a "garage find".
113043-10-000589 is ideally equipped with both hard and soft tops, manual transmission and aftermarket air conditioning. The car displays older paintwork and carpeting, while retaining numerous original components, mechanicals, body panels, etched glass and body number stampings. The car is equipped with its original numbers-matching engine and correct colors as specified on its accompanying original Mercedes-Benz DataCard and Protect-O-Plate. An ideal "driver quality" Pagoda, noted services from 2018-19 include a new battery, seat covers, shifter bushings, fuel pump and hoses. A rare find for the SL enthusiast, this honest and well equipped SL offers an exciting foundation for its next caretaker.
