- No reserve
- Superb lines evoking the legendary 300 SL
- Reliable and comfortable car
- Superb restoration

In the early 1950s, Mercedes-Benz returned to competition with the 300SL coupé, designed under the supervision of the brilliant engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut. Extremely powerful and very successful, the car attracted the attention of the U.S. importer Max Hoffman, who requested the carmaker to develop a street legal version as well as a more affordable variant. Thus, two years later, at the New York Motor Show, the stand featured two brand new cars from Mercedes: the 300 SL Coupe "gullwing" on the one hand, and the prototype 190 SL, on the other hand. The following year, in 1955, at the Geneva Motor Show the production versions of both were unveiled. The two new Mercedes-Benzes had strikingly similar lines.
