Collection Mercedes-Benz France
Delivered new in France by Établissements Delecroix and first registered on 4 July 1960, this Mercedes 190 SL with a hard-top the colour of the body, was bought by Mercedes-Benz France on 12 July 1995. It had been kept in the Hauts-de-Seine region since 1985. In 2003 the car was re-upholstered in dark green leather, the original colour, and the body was restored the following year.
The car is presented in good condition today, and is structurally sound despite some areas of oxidation. The Alpaca hood is also in reasonable condition, and the interior has been well preserved since its restoration. The dashboard fea-tures a VDO Kienzle clock, there are mottled green mats and a green leather tonneau cover. This car was exhibited on the Mercedes stand at the 1997 Retromobile Salon. It comes with its Daten Karte, a file of invoices detailing work and maintenance carried out since it was acquired in 1995, as well as technical documents.
Presented at the same time as the Mercedes 300 SL, the 190 SL had a similar style but favoured comfort over sportiness. The elegant design incorporated a robust engine and supple suspension, making it an ideal touring car. Owned by Mercedes-Benz France for the last 20 years, the car recently underwent a 3200 euro service including the replacement of all four tyres, the fluids and the filters. This 190 SL has the bonus of being an original French car with a known history and attractive presentation.
