The original first title of this car shows it was delivered new in Frankfurt, on 1 june 1970, and gives the chain of owners till 1999. Its datenkarte confirms it left the factory painted in an elegant metallic grey (180G) complemented by a su-perb dark blue leather interior, and fitted with optional electric sunroof and Blau-punkt radio. Our collector, particularly keen on this marque, discovered this ex-ample in the Netherlands after it had benefitted from restoration. The bodywork is sound and in good condition, as is the chromework. The original leather interi-or has been conserved and has a beautiful patina despite a few tears we noticed in the front seats. The wood trim is in satisfactory condition. The engine, match-ing numbers, mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox, starts and turns over well. The Falken tyres date from 2013 and show little sign of wear. The spare wheel is an optional aluminium wheel. This is a rather unusual Mercedes coupé with a distinctive level of power and performance. It paved the way for a whole genera-tion of models that would consolidate the marque's reputation, based on a subtle combination of sport, comfort and luxury.
