Unveiled in 1963, the Mercedes-Benz W108 offered a modern design, with a lower waistline than its predecessor. It was available in several versions, the 300 SE being the high end of the range with a 3-liter six-cylinder engine developing 170bhp, reaching a top speed of over 200 km/h. In addition to a pneumatic rear suspension system that ensured a constant ride height, the car also featured a very classy finish with chrome hubcaps and high quality interiors.
Having been in the Lyon region for some 30 years, the 300 SE coupe on offer was bought in 2012 by its current owner. He then entrusted the well-known garage Atelier 600 (Mr. Branthomme) to carry out a number of repairs: replacement of the pneumatic 'sphere' of the suspension, overhaul of the brakes, refurbishment of the exhaust system and the air-conditioning, repair of the woodwork, replacement of the sunroof seal, and installation of a new bumper. The upholstery was redone in the 1980s and the paint would need to be redone. This car has two particularly popular options: an air-conditioning system and a sunroof, both are a real pleasure to use. Elegant, luxurious, powerful and extremely comfortable with its revised suspension system, this car can be used regularly, as has been the case so far.
