"Komfort plus hohe Leistung für sportliche Fahrer" - so beschrieb Mercedes-Benz das äußerst seltene 300Sc Roadster-Modell in seinen Verkaufsbroschüren und zeigte dem Markt, für den es positioniert war. Im Laufe von 4 Jahren Produktion wurden nur 200 der 300Sc-Modelle der ultimativen Spezifikation gebaut, und von diesen wurden nur 53 Roadster gebaut.

Das Design ist so modern, dass es unglaublich erscheint, dass genau dieses Auto vor etwas mehr als 60 Jahren im Februar 1956 bestellt wurde. Auf dem amerikanischen Markt waren diese Fahrzeuge sehr beliebt. Es ist also nicht verwunderlich, dass dieses Auto nach New York kam. Laut Kopien der originalen Fabrikkarte ist dies der 16. von 53 ausgelieferten Sc Roadstern.

Vor ungefähr 25 Jahren erhielt der Mercedes eine Restaurierung, die ihn in den spektakulären Zustand brachte, in dem wir ihn heute sehen. Mit einem Kilometerstand von etwas mehr als 500 Meilen wurde er seit seiner Restaurierung nur sehr selten gefahren und mit großer Sorgfalt behandelt. So zeigt der Wagen auch nur leichte Alterungserscheinungen. 550 Meilen nach der Restauration (ca. 1000 km)

Wie bereits erwähnt, stellten diese Autos den Höhepunkt der Produktion von Luxusautomobilen dar. Sie waren neu aufgrund ihrer begrenzten Anzahl sehr begehrt und sind heute echte Sammlerautos.

"Comfort plus high performance for sporty drivers" - was how Mercedes-Benz described the ultra-rare 300Sc Roadster model, in their sales brochures and shows the market that they positioned it towards. Over the course of 4 years of production, there would be mere 200 of the ultimate specification 300Sc models built, and of those only 53 Roadsters were built.

So modern are they in design that it seems incredible that this very car was ordered just over 60 years ago in February 1956. Always popular with the American market it is not surprising that this car would have headed there new, and its destination was New York. According to copies of its original factory build card, in sequence this is the 16th of 53 Sc Roadsters delivered.

Approximately 25 years ago the Mercedes received a restoration which brought it to the spectacular condition in which we see it today. With an odometer reading of a little over 500 miles, its use since the rebuild has been extremely light and owing to sympathetic care it shows only light aging. 550 miles after the restoration (approx. 890 km)

As noted, these cars truly were the zenith of production from the creator of and perpetual luxury market leader of automobile production. They were coveted when new and owing to their limited numbers are real collectible automobiles, so opportunities to buy them are rarely presented. The benchmark catalog example of the model, in all its splendor, the car is deserving of close attention.
