Description

German title

- Rare Serie 2 model
- Engine and colour "matching" numbers
- Delivered new to Switzerland
- Original Lucas injection

This Maserati Sebring from the second series was delivered new to Herr Siegfried Sigrist in Bern, Switzerland on 4 May 1966 by the Swiss dealership Martinello & Sonvico. Despite the fact that he placed his order in March 1966, it clearly showed that demand was not so much a priority for this model at that time. Lamborghini had the Miura and Maserati had the Ghibli and Indy in the pipeline, and Iso had the Grifo, but this car still had a market which was more targeted at gentleman drivers.
It was delivered in "Argento Auteuil" (silver) with a "Senape"(mustard) interior and has kept the same colour combination to date; it is presented here in a lovely patina.
The history of this Swiss car is limited however, it was imported to Germany in 2005 through the Lingen customs after having been restored. The importer was a Mr Z. from Köln who kept the car until 2012, doing rallies, and had a FIVA passport issued. In 2012, the Sebring was sold to a Dr. B. from Dormagen who sent the car to Auto Schiemenz in Bad Godesberg with a primary objective of working on the Lucas Injection system. Between 2012 and 2018 around 20 000 € have been spent.
Nowadays, the car appears to be in very good condition throughout, and the Lucas system runs beautifully, as it has been overhauled by Schiemenz Maserati in Bonn in 2018.
The paint and chrome work are also lovely. Following our test drive, we can attest that the car is in very good working order mechanically. The interior is truly original and the driver's seat has been re-dyed. It is a rare and very interesting series 2 model, with its different front lights and grille, fitted with air conditioning as standard. As stated in internal documents and proven by its "matching" numbers, this is a great and elegant GT from this era, with its original colours and its original engine.
