First registered in January 1966 as ‘JLH 7D’ by UK Maserati agents, Maserati Concession Ltd, this Sebring was one of just twenty-six Sebrings imported into the UK. Delivered in an attractive and period colour of Bianco Polo Park with a Black Connolly interior, this Maserati was fitted with the 3700cc engine, updated ZF 5-speed manual gearbox and much-desired Borrani wire wheels.

The buff logbook for the Sebring states that the Maserati was supplied to its first owner Stockpots Ltd of Conduit Street via Chipstead of Kensington Ltd. In January 1968 ownership passed between Philip Mist Automobiles and Coldroll Steel Ltd whom the Sebring would remain with until April 1973 when it was acquired by Mr Frank Caldwell of Nottingham. The Sebring would remain with Caldwell for some thirteen years before passing into the ownership of William Faragen of London and then Oscar Howie also of London. In 1990, the Maserati would enter a key stage of its life when purchased by enthusiast John Bennett of Edinburgh who for the next twenty-six years lavished much time and expense bringing the Sebring back to an excellent standard mostly with the help of McGrath Maserati.

During Bennett’s ownership, the Sebring was completely rebuilt in stages with the car benefitting from a bare metal repaint and re-chrome, engine rebuild, gearbox and transaxle rebuild and interior retrim. Bennett used the Sebring for Maserati Club Events, road rallies and tours with the car becoming a well-known participant in Maserati circles. Bennett clearly had an eye for detail and knew what the Sebring should look like and drive like as he kept a substantial account of his pursuit to acquire all the correct genuine Maserati parts for the restoration work. The history file contains all invoices associated with the works carried out by McGrath Maserati and any other mechanical work in Bennett’s ownership.

In 2016 the Sebring was bought by the current owner via McGrath Maserati whereupon the new owner instructed McGrath Maserati to completely ‘go through’ the car and address any issues which may need attending. Between October 2016 and January 2017, McGrath Maserati completed a host of jobs to satisfy the owner which is detailed over three invoices.

Now offered for sale by Henderson Fellowes on behalf of its owner, the Sebring drives and presents extremely well and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a UK delivered right-hand drive example.

Currently UK road registered (the Maserati will receive a date related registration before sale), the Sebring is supplied with its spare wheel, jack, substantial history file and Maserati Classiche documents.
