Much sought after Lotus Europa Special Big Valve with the 126 HP engine and the 5 speeds. This 1973 John Player Special was always owned by one and the same owner in America and has been standing still for 18 years. Due to a defective ball bearing inside the gearbox. The nice thing about this Lotus is that it is still in its original condition. Meaning: Entirely in its first (now weathered) paintwork, the original matching engine and gearbox, the original chassis and the original rims. Nothing has been changed to this car, as is often the case with most Europas. The polyester bodywork never experienced any collision and is thus very sleek, only a small piece of the front spoiler missing. Naturally, the car is in need of an overall restoration after all these years of inactivity, this is a true barn find. The engine’s condition is unknown and the gearbox needs to be revised as well as the interior (see pictures). The handbrake does work but the brakes also need revision. The 4 tyres are new however. The last Europa series, together with the Esprits series, represent the most sought after Lotus cars. An authentic Lotus from the era of founder Colin Chapman. Some of the car’s history is known.VIN number: 743292RDelivered new in Maryland USA.Fitted with the rare badge.
