Description

The Lotus Elan was the first Lotus road car to use a steel backbone chassis and fiberglass bodywork.

This design typology would be repeated in subsequent Lotus models for nearly three decades.

At approximately 680 kg, the Elan was designed according to a design philosophy with an emphasis on the minimum possible weight that was characteristic of Colin Chapman design.

The Elan was technologically advanced, using a 1,558 cc DOHC engine, four-wheel disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel independent suspension.

This Elan S3 Coupe has been meticulously restored and prepared for high performance and reliability. Among other enhancements, this Elan has aluminium radiator with electric fan, electronic ignition, competition starter motor and alternator, adjustable suspensions, «TTR» transmissions, limited slip differential, close ratio gearbox with aluminium bell-housing, forged pistons, forged connecting rods, forged 12 bolt crankshaft, lightweight flywheel, «QED» billet steel cams, «Safety Devices» rolcage and UK modified «Smiths Radiomobile» radio to allow cable connection to smartphones.
