Description

This classic car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button. .Landrover 88, 2. series, petrol, LHD, in condition 2+ and true to original

The Landrover is absolutely ready to drive and suitable for everyday use. He passed the German MOT and has a German classic car registration. Technically it is virtually as good as new. Registration as an open car is possible immediately. Belgian papers and the expertise of the German MOT are available (to be submitted for the preparation of the German letter).

Over the last 2 1/2 years the car has been very carefully rebuilt, retaining the original parts. The motto was always maintain and repair instead of new parts. On the one hand because the car should remain original, on the other hand because the original parts are usually better than cheap imitation parts. This also means that many things look used. For example, the bodywork has dents, or chrome parts are slightly dull. Matching to that the new paintjob has been applied with reduced gloss. So like after 60 years. However, all safety-relevant parts such as brakes and lighting are new (if possible OEM parts where used). A curiosity was the procurement of spare parts from England which, despite Brexit and Corona, brought original parts from the 60s to light. Gearwheels cast in grease and well packed.

Here is a short list of what was done.

Frame: blasted, inside chemically de rusted, outside 4 colours with corroless and inside fluid film.
Engine: Completely rebuilt. (better than new).
Gearbox: completely new bearings and seals. Syncron body, input shaft, 1st gear and R gear new.
Axes: Completely new bearings and adjusted. Even the differentials.
Brakes: completely new. This is simply a must.
Cooling: New radiator net soldered into the water boxes, new hoses. Water pump overhauled.
Steering: new bearings, seals, steering spindle and ball heads.
Electrics: New wiring harness, overhaul of the instruments, alternator and starter.
Seats: newly upholstered with the original elephant hide grey interior.
Body: completely dismantled, dented as far as possible, no putty, (almost) new paint (2K) in original marine blue (LFRC006) and British arctic white. New galvanizing of many steel parts, renewal of seals and installation of new sliding window guides.

Many more details could be listed here. It is easier to visit and drive the car.
All invoices of all spare parts, double spare parts, other accessories (e.g. second tank, reinforced axle etc) and photos during the restoration are available.

In order to avoid later disappointment, it is recommended that you view the vehicle before placing a bid.
