The Lancia Fulvia Coupé first appeared in 1965 and became an instant success. It soon made its name in the world of international rallies with many class wins; by 1972 it had won the Monte Carlo Rally and the World Rally Championship as well as winning the British RAC Rally twice. Fulvias also exhibited the elegant engineering and cost-no-object design philosophy of all pre-Fiat Lancias, and they were far more mechanically sophisticated than contemporary Alfa Romeo GTVs or MG MGB GTs.
One of the rarer variants of the Fulvia was the Zagato model which shared very little of its outward appearance with the more common, standard bodied Fulvia.
