At the Turin Motor Show in 1960 Lancia presents the "Flavia", a car considered innovative in Italian production. The commercial success immediately came for the Flavia, not even the long waits for delivery discouraged potential buyers: at that time Lancia did not exceed 40 units in production per day.
The first 78 hp 1500 cm³ engine was decidedly undersized compared to Flavia's size and remarkable road skills.
For the first time it was fixed to a lowered auxiliary chassis than that of the car, thus further limiting the height of the center of gravity of the system, with consequent benefits on road holding. The braking system, double hydraulic circuit with servo brake and parking device with mechanical control and separate pads, is equipped with discs on the four wheels.
These are rare technical peculiarities for that era and never seen before in Italy and not only for a standard car, but also on much more expensive out-of-series.
The Lancia Flavia, with 1500 engine, was produced from 1960 to 1967 in 31,582 units.
