Description

Lancia Flaminia SuperSport Zagato 3C 2.8 1965 LHD

Just out of a comprehensive nut & bolt restoration, we presented this Flaminia SuperSport Zagato on our stand at the 2019 Brussels InterClassics show and immediately won “Best of Show”!

In the period catalogue, the Flaminia SuperSport is described as comfort with fast motoring. Further terminology mentions: swift – smooth – brilliant – safe – smart – practical.

I would add: passion!

Or what about the first owner Mr. Bertrand Goldberg from Chicago-USA who gave this Lancia Flaminia SuperSport Zagato as a present to his wife Nancy, upon which Mrs Goldberg immediately embarked for a trip to Europe where she collected personally her new SuperSport at the Zagato factory in Milan.

It must have been a glamorous sight, touring Europe for a few weeks in such a stylish sportscar together with her mother and daughter ! At the end of which, Mrs Goldberg drove the Lancia to le Havre to be shipped on the Queen Elisabeth II, direction New York.

Once arrived at the docks in New York, the same Mrs Goldberg collects the Flaminia SuperSport Zagato and drives the Lancia in 1 go (a 12h blast) to Chicago (about 800 miles) and...as her daily transport for the next 7 years.

With such Lancia passionate parents it doesn’t come as a surprise that the son Geoffrey Goldberg turns out to be the author of the famous “Lancia & De Virgilio” book.

Being 1 of only 187 examples produced, this Flaminia SuperSports transites with 2 more Lancia collectors in the USA before it ends-up in 2003 in the hands of a passionate Dutch Lancia enthusiast who tackles the nut & bolt restoration which his acquisition absolutely deserves.

This restoration is executed step by step by the best specialists around, taking care of the cars’ originality.

The litterally “Concours Condition” result can be admired when examining the photos or by visiting our specialist classic car garage in Aalst-Belgium.
