After 17 years of production, the legendary Countach was replaced by the Diablo which on arrival was the fastest, most advanced and most expensive Lamborghini ever built. First exhibited to the public in Monaco in January 1990, the Diablo surpassed its illustrious predecessor in every way, setting a new benchmark in the world of supercars. No one was surprised to learn that it was designed by Marcello Gandini, the man behind the Lamborghini Miura and the Countach, as the resemblance to its ancestors was evident. Under the skin, its steel frame is developed from that of the Countach but constructed in a square section rather than round tubing while incorporating "crumple zones" at the front and rear. The use of carbon fiber composite panels, which first appeared in the Countach Evoluzione model, was extended to the Diablo, which also featured a revised suspension capable of accommodating planned future developments of four-wheel drive and active suspension. An avalanche of technology and an engine that makes lightning talk: a 5.7 liter V12 engine with a strong displacement of 492 hp.
Delivered new in Europe in 1993, the car was quickly purchased by a Japanese collector where the Diablo spent most of its life. Thoroughly maintained, its Japanese logbooks attest to regular maintenance and regular mileage year after year. It was purchased by its owner in 2015 at an auction. As usual in the country of the rising sun, the car has received new 18-inch OZ rims to replace the original 17-inch ones, but it is seduced by its condition and its very low mileage since its odometer does not display at the time of sale only 23,259 kilometers. Since then, more than 3,000 km have been covered and nearly € 45,000 invested to ensure its smooth operation at P3 Automobiles in Cannes and at Passion Automobile Prestige in Dardilly. Engine, gearbox, clutch, running gears, cooling system, electrical harnesses ... The car will be checked and revised between March 2016 and September 2018. If its bodywork is not free from all reproach, the whole car is consistent with her age and the reputation of its assemblies. But there is no doubt that the lines of this legendary GT, its driving position and the sound of its engine are enough to convince any collector that this car deserves all the superlatives of a legendary car.
