We have a wonderful European supplied, matching numbers 1966 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 available. It was originally a Swiss supplied car that came over to the Netherlands in 2014.

1966 also happened to be the first production year of the Lamborghini 400GT 2+2. Only 224 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 were built between 1966 and 1968. It has a 3.9 litre V12 attached to a 5-speed Lamborghini designed gearbox. The most remarkable feature is that all five gears have synchromesh rings.

A few years ago this example underwent a full restoration and now looks great. The Touring designed bodywork using Superleggera formulation is in wonderful condition. The correctly aligned panelwork is nice and thin. The bodywork was resprayed in fetching blue and still stands up to scrutiny. The car has the right Borrani rims shod in Pirelli 5000 tyres. The chassis underpinning the car is in peak condition.

The interior trim was completely refurbished using beige leather with black leather dashboard cladding. Both its leather and carpets are in fine condition. The gages and controls all naturally function as they should.

The Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 has some wonderful engineering on board. Giotto Bizzarrini was responsible for the 3.9 litre V12. This masterpiece is attached to an equal piece of engineering by Gian Paolo; the 5-speed manual transmission. Before he started he looked to Porsche for inspiration and came up with this transmission design using synchromesh rings on all 5 gears. The engine develops 320 Ps at 6,500 revs. This takes the Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 7.5 seconds, topping out at 250 km/hr. During the restoration, the mechanical side of things was fully taken in hand. The Weber carburettors were serviced and returned, many add-on parts were either replaced with new ones or serviced and of course, all fluids and filters were replaced.

The Lamborghini 400GT 2+2’s fantastic driving characteristics are down to its Koni shocks and correct Pirelli tyres.

The Lamborghini 400GT’s soundtrack, by virtue of the six twin Weber carburettors, is incomparable. The large bore V12-engine is always able to deliver power. It should be viewed as a piece of art in its self. Add the gorgeous finish and good mechanical state of play and there can be no other conclusion other than this quite rightly is a quintessential Supercar.
