Description
This is not a car for the originality enthusiast!
Purchased by the current owner from JD Classics in 2004, this is an extensively modified, fast-road XK. Originally a U. S. Export model, it was later restored into its current Right Hand Drive guise by Leaping Cats. Finished in silver with an all-aluminium body, the engine is a 4. 2 litre unit mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Disc brakes all round (vented on the front) slow the car admirably, whilst power steering makes it an ease to drive. Aluminium rimmed wire wheels, a sunken Monza style fuel filler and boot sans-opening handle are some of the numerous styling details.
Inside, it is trimmed in an oxblood red leather with bucket seats. The dash is walnut, and the dials are JD Classics own. It is completed by a full set of wet weather gear.
This fruity Roadster performs well, handles and stops, capable of eating up the miles. It won’t win awards when judged by a man with a clipboard on a mown lawn looking for factory correct details, but it will win awards as an outstanding touring XK.
