Description
Introduced in 1948 and the first of the legendary XK series, the Jaguar XK120 possessed crowd-stunning styling and inspiring performance that made this model an instant classic.
This XK120 SE was dispatched to Charles Hornburg’s dealership in Los Angeles in 1954, and much of its early history is unknown. It was the recipient of an impressive restoration in the mid-1990s that continues to present very well. Originally green, chassis S674322 was refinished in Signal Red with a black leather interior. In 1997, the XK120 was sold to prominent Southern California collector Peter McCoy before joining the consignor’s respected automotive stable in 2016.
This Jaguar benefits from well-documented upgrades that improve performance and driveability without disturbing its character. The four-speed gearbox was replaced with a five-speed unit, while the original front drum brakes were changed to discs. A high-torque starter was also fitted. The Jaguar’s original gearbox and front brakes are included with the car. As an SE model, the engine sports the high-performance cylinder head, which increased output not insignificantly from the model’s standard 160 hp to 180 hp.
This handsome XK120 SE Roadster offers the best of both worlds: a thoughtfully upgraded classic Jaguar with all the style and beauty of a stock XK.
