Presented in 1975, the XJS was the model that had to replace the E Type and carry on the Jaguar name in the world of GT. Initially only available with the 5.3-litre V12 and in a coupé version, it was the flagship model of the Coventry House for more than 20 years. The style, set by Malcolm Sayer and taken up by Sir William Lyons and Derek Thorpe, was of great impact and ensured the success of the XJS throughout the life of its production. Built on the XJ Saloon's short wheelbase chassis, the XJS was able to travel great distances while offering a high level of comfort and reaching a top speed of 240 km/h. In 1981, the HE (High Efficiency) and six-cylinder versions offered greater economy of use. In the same year, the the Targa version was also offered, in effect the first after the production of the E Type was discontinued.

Since it was not designed for cabriolet versions, the XJS was initially offered as a license plate version to maintain high torsional rigidity. However, the production was expensive because the raw bodies had to be transported from the Browns Lane site to specialised companies to be modified, and then be transported again back to Coventry to finish the assembly. This model was then taken out of production in 1988, when the Convertible was presented, which was made in collaboration with the German body shop Karmann. It was a great success, especially for the American market, where it became the favourite car of many stars and celebrities.

This model finished in Red Metallic with Magnolia leather interior from 1992 is offered here in conditions of great originality and mechanical integrity. Owned by the same owner since 2008, this model has received careful maintenance from specialists and is offered in excellent storage conditions. Refreshed with paint in recent years, it is the perfect specimen for the enthusiast looking for a comfortable youngtimer that can be used regularly.
