Description

JAGUAR XJ6 SOVEREIGN 4.2 (1983) CHASSIS N°: SAJJCALP4CC350682, ENGINE: 6 CYLINDER IN LINE, DOHC, DISPLACEMENT: 4235 CM3, POWER: 205 CV, BODY: SALOON, GEARBOX: AUTOMATIC, DRIVE: LHD, SIR WILLIAM’S LAST MASTERPIECE
Sir William Lyons built the success of Jaguar Cars on three pillars: the volume and margins of the salons, the sports cars’ glamour and the publicity gained with racing. But saloons were always Jaguar’s main business. The XK six cylinder engine was studied during the war for a new saloon car, which eventually came out as the Mk VII. This was followed by the Mk VIII, Mk IX and finally, in 1961, by the Mk X which was completely new and had a monococque structure and indipendent suspension alla round. The saloons allowed Lyons to create the technical, financial and infrastrucural premises for joining the big-league industry with the XJ, launched in 1968. The car on sale today is a late Third Series, which is recognisable for its impact bumpers, flush doorhandles and the line of the glasshouse which was modernised by Pininfarina. The car is in perfect conditions and has been driven around 100,000 miles: a great opportunity to buy a very good example of the last model which had been created by Sir William Lyons. The vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition but for safety reasons, we advise the purchaser to have it checked over and to replace the fluids, filters and perishable elements.
