"Originally registered on 1st August 1976 this delightful Jaguar has been lovingly cared for by its fastidious vendor. Having hankered after an XJ12 long wheelbase for some time, he located PLD 500R. After being impressed by its very sound body and largely original condition the vendor set about improving this Series II Jaguar and has invested significant time and funds to ensure it is reliable and enjoyable to drive. The most substantial work carried out was removing both fuel tanks and refurbishing accordingly, replacing the three-way fuel valve and having all 12 injectors removed and professionally rebuilt, together with a new injector wiring harness and new fuel lines. New spark plugs have been fitted together with new HT leads and a new distributor cap. The engine oil and filter together with the gearbox oil and rear axle oil have all been changed. New brake discs and pads all-round have been fitted. The rear subframe was removed, cleaned and powder coated and new bushes fitted. Other work carried out included five new tyres, recalibration of various gauges and new carpets. Sitting proudly on its chrome wheels, the vendor informs us he recently took the car on a 300 mile round trip where it did not miss a beat and attracted admiring glances wherever she appeared. Looking like it has never had any welding carried out, this Jaguar is a very tidy example albeit not in concours condition. Finished in Old English White with blue leather interior and supplied with a V5C registration document and some recent invoices totalling over £10,000 spent in the last 18 months. The XJ12 remained in production for four decades, proving the worth of the original design. It is thought less than 10 examples remain in the UK and good examples are becoming extremely sought after by Jaguar collectors who recognise the importance of the model in the marque’s long and illustrious history.
