It is not surprising the Jaguar Mk2 is still exceedingly popular. The car has fantastic road holding, drives like no other are luxurious, comfortable and in the case of this particular car: very quick. This one has the top-spec engine, the 3.8-litre straight-six coupled to an automatic gearbox.

The Mk2 3.8 was so powerful that bank robbers in the 60s are always “borrowed” one when on the job. This 1966 example arrived in the Netherlands in 2002. The last Dutch owner took possession in 2012 and has fully restored the car. This Jag is in therefore in prime shape. The bodywork looks great with the nice and thin panelwork which is correctly aligned. The newly applied Carmine Red paintwork looks fantastic. The job clearly has been carried out with a high degree of professionalism. Underneath the car is also a lust to behold, illustrating furthermore the thorough approach taken during the restoration. The brightwork, the front bumper mounted spotlights and the chrome wire wheels are all in very good condition.

The interior has been fully reupholstered with beige carpets and beige leather on every seat. The carpets have been fitted to perfection and the leather looks pristine. The wooden dashboard and instrument cluster are in great shape. Both the roof lining and boot space look fantastic, underlining once more the eye for detail taken during this restoration.

The mechanical aspects were certainly not overlooked either. Pop up the bonnet and you will be impressed by the very neat condition of every part. The engine was overhauled during the restoration and runs fantastically. The automatic gear change is as smooth as silk and is perfectly matched to the strong torque characteristics of this British Limousine.

Grace, space and pace. Sir William Lyons certainly knew what he was talking about. With that philosophy, it was no coincidence the Jaguar Mk2 became such an enormous sales success. It is also not surprising that 60 years on the car has lost none of its popularity. That is even more so the case when we have an Mk2 in such splendid condition as this one.

In short this is a wonderfully restored Jaguar Mk2 with the most powerful engine and a finish to die for!
