Engine No. LA 5735-9

Body No. S005696

The Jaguar Mark II offered here is noted on its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, included in the file, as having been originally built on June 27, 1960, and dispatched on the Fourth of July to the States. Original sales documents in the file indicate that it was sold on August 23rd by Leach Economy Motors of Fresno, California, to local resident Nancy Ann Rish. The car was specified with the manual transmission with overdrive, as well as optional chrome wire wheels, radio, heater, and side-view mirrors.

In 1997 the Mark II was sold by Ms Rish to Mark Harnden of Pennsylvania. The car was still in very good shape as-purchased, as seen in photos on file, but Mr. Harnden went on to undertake a meticulous, three-year-long restoration with Barlow & Company of Newton, New Hampshire. The work was very thoroughly done, with the bodywork beautifully finished in period-correct Carmen Red. Also superb is the interior with its rich black leather upholstery, piped in red with matching carpets and Everflex door panels, and lustrous refinished burled walnut trim. The wood-rimmed steering wheel stands before a plethora of properly finished Smiths gauges. Similarly, the engine bay is properly restored throughout with all correct finishes and hardware. At the time of cataloging the car had recorded 6,677 miles.

A winner in JCNA Concours competition in 2001 with 99.37 points, the car is accompanied by a jack and nearly complete tool set, matching spare chrome wire wheel with Avon tire, and an impressive history file, including not only the aforementioned original sales documents, but also service and parts invoices from Ms Rish's ownership, the original manual, and receipts from the Harden restoration. It is an excellent Mark II.
