Description

"The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coupé form and as a convertible roadster. The 2+2 version, with a lengthened wheelbase, was released several years later. On its release, Enzo Ferrari called the Jaguar E-Type The most beautiful car ever made. Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged ‘mouth’ and twin electric fans, together with uprated brakes are all hallmarks of Series II cars. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a ‘ribbed’ appearance. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned with rocker switches being substituted for toggle switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable and air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options.
Repatriated to the UK from Louisiana in 2005 with the odometer reading 24,500 miles, this E-Type was used through until 2005, covering a further 6,100 miles in that time. The previous vendor acquired this car in 2015 and set about restoring it to a superb standard. A particularly knowledgeable and enthusiastic Jaguar owner, he had the engine removed and had the car converted from lefthand to righthand drive, at the same time a new wiring loom was fitted. The engine was completely stripped down and rebuilt using new MAHLE pistons and a modified rear main seal ensuring no annoying oil leaks from the back of the engine. The gearbox was also rebuilt and the rear cage removed with new discs, calipers and bushes fitted. The list of work carried out on TOR 202G is endless and includes electronic ignition, reconditioned SU carburettors, stainless steel exhaust with ceramic manifolds, copper brake pipes, new clutch and brake master cylinders and a new hood. This really is a splendid example and one that has been very well sorted by the fastidious previous  owner. The present owner purchased the car in May 2017 and has covered a mere 300 miles since and he is only selling due to ill health. Finished in black with grey leather trim and sitting proudly on chrome wire wheels, this Series II roadster has covered very few miles since the completion of the restoration. This wonderful Jaguar E-Type is supplied with a magnificent history folder confirming all of the above work and a whole lot more, including a comprehensive collection of invoices from when the car was in the United States, a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and a V5C registration document."
