Rightly hailed as a motoring icon and often named as the best British sports car ever produced, the Jaguar E-Type’s history has been told perhaps more often than any other car of the 20th century, and with that we dive straight into this car’s story. Chassis no. 850112 left the factory on the 11th September 1961 finished in Carmen Red with a matching red interior, an unusual combination, topped with a black hood. As an early example, this would have been produced with the highly desirable flat floor tub, second only in rarity to the earlier ‘external bonnet lock’ cars. The supplying dealer, Rossleigh Ltd. of Newcastle Upon Tyne sold the car to its first owner, a George M.
