Here we present for sale a rare early 1961 Jaguar E-type 3.8 Litre Roadster.

Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type not only stole the show but every headline. Its combination of beauty, high performance, and competitive pricing established the model as an icon of the motoring world. The E-Type was based on Jaguar's D-Type racing car and employed what was, for the early 1960s, a novel racing design principle, with a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. No ladder frame chassis, as was common at the time, was needed and as such the first cars weighed only 1315kg.

This rare car one of the first 298th E-Type produced by Jaguar at the Browns Lane factory in Coventry, England, manufactured on 26 July 1961 before being dispatched to distributor Jaguar Cars New York on 21 August 1961 being supplied to a Mr Richard Gordon in Bronx, New York. This is one of the very early left-hand drive, outside bonnet lock cars with factory flat floors and welded separate hood louvers.

The hood on the vehicle is an early heritage bonnet, modified to OBL.

The vehicle is Carmen Red in colour and has black interior with black hood. (original factory specification).

A restoration was completed on the car in 2011 to better than new and to its original specification.

In 2013 the current owner had E-Type specialist Hutson Motor Company based in Bradford look over the vehicle and create a report. The vehicle is in the same condition today. Report available on request.

The car was acquired in 2013 by its current owner as part of a private collection and has been maintained to a very high standard in heated indoor storage.

This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a very early outside bonnet lock E-Type Roadster. Enzo Ferrari described the Jaguar E-Type as the most beautiful car in the world. The car is a real head tuner and awaiting its owner to hit the open road.

Supplied with a Heritage Certificate, UK V5 Registration Document and some paperwork. The vehicle also comes with the original Handbook (not a reprint).
