Healey Silverstone

Donald Healey, a renowned auto engineer and successful racing driver, founded his own car company in 1946, setting up a small factory in Warwick, England. The company produced some memorable cars, such as the famous Silverstone model of 1949-50. In 1952, Healey was approached by Austin, which was looking for a new sports car design to rival Triumph and MG. The first prototype Healey 100 created a sensation at the 1952 London Motor Show and Austin marketed the cars as Austin-Healeys. Production of Healey cars finished in 1954 although Austin-Healey continued as a marque until 1972, at which point the collaborative agreement expired.
