The mid-year Cobra arrived with a much-needed performance punch to compete against the Z28 and Trans Am muscle, both of which were gaining in the second surge of the early 1990s horsepower wars. The SVT (Special Vehicle Team) built the Cobra into a performance leader with 0-60 sub six-second runs and 100mph quarter mile times achieved by car test magazines lapsing in under 14 seconds. Legendary Cobra performance from a lofty era, only this time accompanied by air conditioning, power steering, 5 speed transmission, leather seating, and premium audio. Although the SVT Cobra was produced alongside the Mustang GT, several unique aspects both mechanical and trim separate the Cobra from the standard Mustang GT. Finished in black with saddle leather interior, it is one of 130 produced in this color combination, making it the rarest of the 5,009 produced in 1994. According to the Ford Motor Company certificate, this Cobra is #4190 of 5,009 produced. The car was delivered to the one and only female owner, a senior resident of Concord, CA and an automotive enthusiast, where it has remained under her care for nearly 30 years. Service invoices accompanying the car indicate regular oil and filter changes, coolant and brake fluid flushes, A/C recharging, and regular passing for California emissions tests. Recall services were also performed in 1998 and 2000. In 2002, with 28,338 miles indicated, a leaking rear main seal and a faulty engine cooling fan were replaced. In 2003 all cooling system hoses were replaced and four new tires were installed. In 2007, new front struts were installed, a new serpentine belt installed, and a two-wheel alignment performed. In 2008, the AC manifold and associated AC parts were replaced and the freon recharged. Also in 2008, the driveshaft yolk was replaced, the rear main seal replaced, and a new set of spark plugs were installed. In 2009 the engine was removed, and a new speedy sleeve (at crankshaft journal) was installed, and a new rear sway bar installed with new correct fasteners. The last service was recorded in 2014 with 46,619 miles when a new battery was also purchased. In 2017, after the owner had surgery, use of the Cobra was limited due to the manual transmission. The car has been stored indoors and recently freshened with fluids checked in preparation for sale. General ConditionToday this remarkably well-preserved Cobra presents very nicely. The original Black paint has been metered and indicates single digits indicative of factory paint on all metal body panels. The composite and steel substructure hood is a stock factory Ford piece which matches the factory finish. Matching VIN stickers applied at the factory are also in place on each of the factory body panels. The finish is in very good condition with typical front fascia chips and minor scuff marks, but generally glossy and nicely maintained particularly for a black car. The factory tinted glass, clear front and rear lenses, and exterior body trim are in very good cosmetic condition including the special Cobra trim, unique to these cars. All openings function as new, with excellent closure, factory panel gaps, and crisp fit to the front and rear bumper caps. The unique Cobra emblems are in place and in excellent condition. The brushed alloy wheels are in excellent condition fitted with matching center caps. Goodyear Eagle GSC 255/45 ZR 17 tires are mounted (as originally equipped) featuring Cobra branded calipers over Anti-lock disc brakes at all four corners. Sport tuned dual exhaust exits under the Mustang embossed rear bumper. Inside the car, the supple saddle leather interior exhibits beautifully preserved finishes throughout, an impressive two-tone dashboard, and a near mint split fold rear seat. All interior components have been beautifully maintained including smooth and supple leather trimmed seats, multi-gauge dashboard, and the 5-speed manual gear selector. The front sport seats feature power lumbar support, while the driving position is great for drivers with longer legs. Handsome touches include factory white instrument dials, and saddle/black contrasting interior colors. Convenience and safety features include power windows and door locks, premium Mach 460 AM/FM stereo cassette with optional compact disc player, and driver and passenger air bags. The trunk is in excellent condition including the factory spare tire and jack.Under the hood, the powerful 5.0 Liter Super-High Performance V8 engine offers impressive yet reliable performance.
