This is the rarest Ford Mustang ever made! Only 0.3% of all Ford Mustangs are 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible K-Codes. Only 181 were ever built. At the time the K-Code was the most expensive option available. If clients forked out $ 75.- for the 260 Ci engine they were able to order the K-Code pack for an additional $ 442.60 making it the most expensive option the Ford factory offered. As an example the next expensive item would have been the air-con option coming in a “mere” $ 283.20. The K-Code pack consisted of a “Hi-Po” 289 Ci block and a special “Handling Pack”. The “Solid lifter” K-Code 289 V8 engine was really quite special. The block has aluminium pistons, strengthened con-rods, a specially engineered crank shaft, enlarged cylinder head in and outlets together with special manifolds. Our Ford Mustang Convertible is in exceptional, restored condition. The restoration has been done to a high professional standard. An although the paperwork does not show exactly when the high quality restoration was carried out, it is clear that the car has been perfectly maintained ever since. The bodywork is naturally completely rust-free. The panelwork is straight and correctly aligned. During the restoration the car had a re-spray in its original “Ivy Green” colour. The paintwork condition is very good bar a few minor blemishes. The Mustang stands proudly on special wide 14 inch rims that form part of the “Handling Pack” and K-Code. The electric hood is in great condition and shuts securely. The tonneau cover is included. The interior trim is in fine condition with its black vinyl upholstery and brown carpets. The wooden deep-dish 3 spoke steering wheel suits the car's sporty character. The dash board has a pleasing amount of perfectly working instruments. Furthermore the interior trim has the original rubber matts and AM-radio. The gearstick for the manual transmission is positioned towards the driver and works perfectly. Mechanically this car perfectly sound. Religious maintenance has paid dividend when driving the Mustang. The 289 Ci Hi-Po engine deserves its title, delivering a pleasing 275 Ps! Even by todays standards this is still a seriously fast car. Another fine aspect of this Hi-PO V8 engine is the fact that it is as comfortable at high revs as it is at the mid-range, where normal V8’s shine. As you might well expect from Ford they did not just produce a fast car they also modified everything to make putting all that power safely on the road. It has therefore a stronger diff, a heavier clutch, strengthened transmission, better shocks and the aforementioned wider rims.In 2012 this Ford Mustang left California for Europe. By way of Germany it has found its way to Brummen. Over the last few years approximately € 5,000.- was spent on maintenance. Again this has paid dividend, notably when driving. The car handles wonderfully well, the engine is as smooth as can be and the gear change is perfect. Replacing every rubber has also enhance the drive. The K-Code Convertible is by far the most rarest Ford Mustang ever produced. Having a car in this condition too is even better. Get in and drive off! The consumption in this kind of car is measured in “smiles per gallon” and believe us there was never a truer saying! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975!
