Identification No. CSM 07H481

Ford celebrated the 40th anniversary of the infamous Shelby GT350-H with yet another collaboration with Shelby Automobiles and Hertz, building a fastback 2006 Shelby Mustang in the same iconic Black and Gold livery. Once more this model was available exclusively for rental at Hertz counters in select markets nationwide, offering both exceptional publicity and immense power.

The following year, the trio followed up on the new GT-H model's success with the very first convertible Hertz Mustang. Largely identical in its trim and specifications to the 2006 fastback model, it now featured black-painted centers in 18-inch Bullitt-style aluminum wheels, as well as, of course, a power-operated top with integrated lighted roll bar. The engines were tuned up a bit to 319 bhp, with throttle body tuning, a new air-cleaner, and special Ford Performance exhaust, as well as a beefy shock tower brace and the Ford Racing Handling Pack with specially-tuned dampers and sway bars. Each engine was secured with a wire fitted by a lead seal, as a 'tell' that the engine had been removed – thus preventing the engine swaps that befell the original Hertz Mustangs in the 1960s!

As before, the GT-H could be rented by the general public only with an automatic transmission. But Hertz Executives could order cars with the five-speed manual transmission which were not released into the rental fleet. The most desirable of these limited-edition convertibles, the 'Executive Car', accounted for only 17 examples. They are very, very seldom traded on the public market.

Jim Taylor's five-speed 'Executive Car' convertible remains in excellent overall condition, with only 1,796 miles recorded at the time of cataloging, making it also, in all likelihood, one of the lowest-mileage and best-preserved 2007 GT-H convertibles extant. Accompanied by Shelby Automobiles invoices, a window sticker confirming the five-speed gearbox, and the original Ford Certificate of Origin, it is an outstanding example of a modern-day high-performance legend.
