Description

Vince Woodman's Ford Escort RS1600 2.0BDG
2017 FIA HTP papers

This Ford RS1600 Escort XKB353J is an original RS1600 bodyshell, which has been built into a FIA Apppendix K Race car. Originally built for Nick Stagg in around 2008, the car was then purchased by Vince Woodman following the sale of his legendary Cologne Capri. Fitted with fresh Ford Cosworth 2.0 BDG engine on Lucas mechanical fuel injection, this car is in excellent condition as you would expect from such a well known driver, and finished in the famous blue and white VWM Motors colours the car looks fantastic.

The specification of the car includes 2.0 Ford BDG Engine rebuilt by Ridgeway Engines, Lucas Mechanical fuel injection, 5 Speed ZF gearbox, Front and rear disc brakes (4 pot front and 2 pot rear), 13 inch wheels with 8.5 x 23.5 Avon Slick tyres, Competition spec wiring loom, safety equipment, including roll cage, fire extinguisher, and competition seat with 5 point harness.

The car is still road registered and comes with UK V5 log book, old (2008) FIA HTP, Complete with NEW 2017 FIA HTP, The car has only been used once since rebuild and is in excellent condition, and includes a spares package comprising running spares, 2 x Crown wheel and pinion ratios, and spare wheels.

Few cars can match the racing pedigree of Ford’s Mk1 Escort, from its early days right until the end of its production, the Escort dominated motorsport both on and off of the asphalt.

Those who know their racing Escorts will likely recognise the distinctive livery of this example as that of Vince Woodman’s Broadspeed built cars. Woodman raced numerous Escorts in the early 70s but the rarest and arguably the most interesting was the works backed Broadspeed example built to take on the 1973 British Saloon Car Championship, on which the car we have for sale is based. Eligible for various Historic Touring Car Championships including Motor Racing Legends, Peter Auto HTC. Priced to sell - highly competitive and great fun to drive.
