Description
This Cortina is a Swiss delivered example and was first registered on the 10th of February 1965. The original paint was embellished over the years with golden accents honouring the 1965 ETCC racecar from John Whitmore. The engine was completely overhauled in 2011, enlarged to 1’561cc and a set of Weber twin carburettor was installed. Invoices for around 13’000 francs testify to the work completed. The engine bonnet is decorated with a very artistic airbrush painting providing an impressive view into the engine compartment. The Swiss registration document was issued in the name of the cars first owner until very recently. In March 2020 and after a longer period of storage, the Ford was taken over by the vendor and imported into England. After arrival the Cortina was prepared for historic rallying by specialists Nine-W Race Engineering in Stockbridge Hants. The task included installation of a locking differential, new brakes, new dampers and further technical improvements. Receipts exceeding 30’000 pounds for all the work completed are available. After a few entries in minor events the car successfully took part in the Monte Carlo historic 2023 and was subsequently brought back to Switzerland. An outstanding car for historic rallies, fully prepared and ready to go. A copy of the old Swiss registration is available. The car currently has English documents and Swiss custom duties have not been paid.
