Description

Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible

Ford Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible V8 1972 - Designed for a market position between the Ford Mustang and Ford Thunderbird, the Cougar is a compact 'luxury' and comfortable car to be in.
It does a great job of combining muscle car performance with every option you could want in a 1972.
Only 1,929 examples of this XR7 convertible version were produced in 1972.

Why this car is special
This Cougar is incredibly well equipped with the XR7 package, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, radial tyres, power windows, power locks, centre console, high-back bucket seats, rim-flip steering wheel, AM/FM radio, power convertible top, blue vinyl interior and seat belts.

Mechanical
The engine is as original as it gets and is backed by an automatic transmission that shifts on the floor. The Ford engine is legendary for its performance and reliability. It can be left as it was from the factory, or there are an endless number of aftermarket performance upgrades.

Interior
A prime example of the quality that made the Cougar so valuable is the beautiful blue and white bucket seat interior with padded dashboard and high-back bucket seats. The Cougar emblem on the seat backs, door panels and steering wheel and the XR7 emblem on the dash are nice touches. A centre console provides storage space and an armrest for you and your passenger, while seat belts keep you safe. The automatic electric soft top opens at the touch of a button, and the AM/FM radio plays a classic rock song. A convertible top boot is also included for a neat look when the top is down.

Exterior
There's not much that looks better than blue on a classic car, and this Cougar is no exception. Deeply glossy, it's finished in beautiful Blue Glamour and set off with a white convertible top. The split grille with four headlights adds to the muscle car look. This car has just enough chrome to walk the line between muscle and luxury, and is as much at home among Lincolns and Cadillacs as it is with Camaros and Cudas.
