The first series of the Fiat 500 was commonly known as "Topolino" - the nickname literally translates as "little mouse" in Italian, but is also the Italian name for Micky Mouse. The Topolino was one of the smallest cars in the world at the time of production.

Launched in 1937, three models were produced until 1955, all with only minor mechanical and cosmetic changes. It was equipped with a 569cc four-cylinder, side valve, water-cooled engine that was mounted in front of the front axle (it later became an overhead valve engine), it was a proper car. The radiator was located behind the engine which allowed for a lowered aerodynamic nose profile at a time when competitors had a flat, almost vertical grille.

Three models were produced. Models A and B had the same bodywork, the model B engine had 16 hp compared to 13 hp in model A. Model C was introduced in 1949 with a restyled bodywork and the same engine as model B and was offered as a 2-door saloon, a 2-door convertible, a 3-door station wagon and a 2-door van version.

In 1952, Giardinetta was renamed Belvedere ("A turret or other elevated structure that offers a pleasant view of the surroundings," referring to the sunroof). Model C was produced until 1955.

This one is one of the third series - also called Fiat 500C Belvedere. The Fiat has a properly running engine with a nice sound. The car shifts smoothly through all gears and it brakes properly. The whitewall tyres give a look from that period.

The interior is still in very neat condition as can be seen in the pictures. The paint is still in good condition but has some small spots (see photos), these are only visible up close.

The car has a Dutch registration and a valid Dutch periodic inspection, this classic is ready to be enjoyed!

These 'Sunroof' Fiat Belvederes are increasingly harder to find. So don’t wait too long and become the new owner of this classic Italian pride!
